Growing Notes
- Poppy seeds are tiny, and like light to germinate. Sprinkle thinly on trays and cover with just a light dusting of vermiculite.Â
- Once they start flowering, pick stems regularly to keep them producing.Â
Harvesting Notes
- For a good vase life, poppies must be picked as the colour is just starting to show through the bud, called the ‘cracking’ stage. Otherwise the bees will pollinate them and reduce their vase life considerably.Â
- Some people sear the stems, but we have found that this does not make any difference.Â
*We pack by volume so seed numbers are approximate only.
