Grow School: Spring Cut Flowers Intensive

Learn how to grow an abundance of the very best spring flowers  for creating your own beautiful arrangements and bouquets, including everyone’s favourites such as ranunculus and sweet peas! These flowers can all be grown over winter to provide beautiful blooms in spring. The course includes specific varieties to choose, tips and techniques for successful growing and harvesting, and how to care for your flowers once they have been cut. 


Please note that due to the current pandemic situation there is a chance that this workshop will not be able to be run. We are still accepting bookings, but if the workshop is cancelled we will provide a full refund.

Practical instruction will take place on our own small flower farm. At the end of the workshop you will have a ‘take home’ pack of a range of specialty cut flower seeds, seedlings, bulbs and corms to help establish your own productive spring cut flower garden. You will have access to some amazing varieties of spring flowers which are not usually available to home gardeners.



  • Planning a spring cutting garden
  • Specific growing information for a variety of cut flowers, including spring bulbs and hardy annuals. Bring on the ranunculus, anemone, sweet peas, and more!
  • Cut flower propagation – growing from seeds, cuttings, bulbs, corms and other methods
  • Harvesting and post-harvest tips to keep flowers fresher for longer

Christy is a teacher and gardener and loves to combine these two passions. Christy runs a sustainable small scale cut flower farm as part of Nourish Gardens located in the beautiful Owhanake Bay on Waiheke Island.



$165 per person. This includes course resource materials, a ‘take home’ pack of a range of flower seeds, seedlings and specialty cut flower bulbs and corms  to get you growing, as well as a delicious morning tea and lunch.

Dress suitably for the expected weather conditions, which can be very changeable at this time of year. Please wear shoes that are suitable for uneven ground, and that may get dirty.
